Forging a Legacy
When Romano Truant first invested in Red Deer Bottling and later secured franchise rights with Coca-Cola, little did he know the profound impact he would have on his family’s journey. His entrepreneurial spirit and visionary outlook paved the way for a strong alliance between the Truant family and a global brand. In 1977, Romano’s sons, Alfio and Dino, assumed leadership, significantly contributing to establishing RDB as an integral part of the local community. Transitioning into the third generation, as central Alberta flourished, so did our enterprise. Under the guidance of Mike Truant, RDB expanded its operations to include MAC Leasing and Vending, and ultimately found its home in Edgar Industrial, marking a pivotal chapter in our evolution.

Today, we proudly welcome the fourth generation of family leadership as Mike’s daughter, Tarah, joins our ranks. Tasked with fulfilling our mission to quench the thirst of Central Alberta, Tarah is committed to fostering growth alongside the communities we serve. Our vision is to become the premier beverage distributor in Alberta, ingrained in the fabric of our communities and trusted by generations.
Our Story
Chapter 1: The Early Years
Established in 1911 by A. Pingney and H. Brown, the company originally focused on bottling soft drinks such as Cal-aid and Delaware Punch, unknowingly laying the foundation for what would later become a cherished local institution.
Chapter 2: The Foundation: Romano Truant’s Coca-Cola Journey
In 1933, Romano Truant, formerly a miner, joined the company and promptly acquired franchise rights for Coca-Cola and Orange Soda, fundamentally reshaping our path forward.
Chapter 3: Forging a Legacy and Generational Transitions
In 1977, Romano entrusted leadership to his sons, Alfio and Dino, who jointly managed bottling operations, sales, and distribution. However, in 1995, Dino pursued other ventures, and Mike formally stepped into the role of General Manager. Alfio’s active participation in both non-profit and business sectors stands as a source of pride and inspiration for our RDB family. He continued to serve as Chairman of the Board until his passing. Under Mike’s leadership RDB expanded its operations to include MAC Leasing and Vending, and ultimately found its home in Edgar Industrial, marking a pivotal chapter in our evolution.
